Rockwell hardness tester is mainly used for hardness measurement on stamping parts. For small stamping parts having a complex shape, the surface is too small to be tested. So, small stamping parts cannot be measured by using common desk Rockwell hardness tester.
Stamping parts processing mainly includes blanking, bending, drawing, forming, finishing and other processes. Materials used for stamping parts process are mainly metal plates or strips which have been hot rolled or cold rolled, like carbon steel plate, alloy steel plate, spring steel plate, galvanized sheet, tinning sheet, stainless steel plate, copper plate or copper alloy plate, aluminum and aluminum alloy plate, etc.
The purpose of hardness measurement on stamping parts is confirming whether annealing of bought metal plates suitable for following stamping parts process or not. Various categories of stamping parts process requires plates having different hardness. Aluminum alloy plate used for stamping parts processing can be measured by using Rockwell hardness tester. The materials whose thickness is higher than 13mm can be measured by using Barcol hardness tester. Barcol hardness tester can be also used for measuring pure aluminum plate or aluminum alloy plate having low hardness.
In stamping parts processing, stamping is also called as sheet forming sometimes while still has distinctions. Sheet forms means that sheets, thin walled pipes and thin materials are used as raw materials.
